At Southport Road Dental Practice, we are constantly looking for new ways to invest in the practice and look after our existing patients and new customers who come to see us.

Everybody these days is really, really busy and dentistry to a certain extent, I guess, gets in the way of life and when you come to the dentist you want everything to be done as quickly as possible.

So I was looking around the market to see what was available to try and keep everything to a single visit if at all possible and I came across the Cerec system which allows us to make most dental restorations within one visit.

So what does that mean for you?

It means that we will be able to perform a lot of your dentistry in the same day!

The time taken to perform treatments such as Dental Implants, Veneers and Crowns will be so much quicker than before.

The whole process was amazing from the pre appointments to the aftercare. The sedation itself allowed the... work to be done, and everyone's attitude helped me to remain calm. During the pre appointments, Dr Rashmi was able to get me to use different skills to get xrays that I have been unable to do previously. The sedation appointment was also fantastic. I can’t praise or thank everyone enough, from receptionists and dental nurses to the dentists themselves who provide a friendly comfortable atmosphere for even the most dental-phobic patients - of which I am one! From my first assessment appointment I was patiently listened to and my fear of... experiencing pain dealt with by providing sympathetic but professional reassurance. Being faced with the terrifying prospect of needing root canal work, Dr Rashmi took her time to explain the process to be carried out. At no point did I feel rushed into any decisions but with all the facts at my fingertips my selecting sedation whilst the work was carried out proved to be the best decision I’ve ever made. Having been afraid of dentists since a child (now 70+) I now feel I’ve found my “home” at last, where I know I’ll be taken good care of and have access to painless dentistry. However this time the sedation worked well and I was able to have a 2 hour long treatment with no memory of it whatsoever! I see Rashmi, the dentist and Rebecca, the hygienist, at regular intervals but have also seen David and once saw Marc for an emergency appointment. I list below what I see as the key features of this practice and I have tried to explain the reasons for my judgement.It offers the following:• highly skilled professionals who are able to provide advanced dental procedures such as teeth straightening and implants (my husband has had a very successful implant sorted out by David);• a practice that is prepared to invest in the latest technology (I have had a crowned tooth made by 3D printing on the premises in 30 minutes rather than the traditional procedure of removal-temporary crown-final fitting);• care shown in checking ongoing dental health eg. comparison of new X-rays with old, comparison of measurements of gum-line at regular intervals etc. (eg. it was noticed that I was wearing down the surface of a crowned tooth and it was suggested that I would benefit from a dental night guard which has protected the tooth for some years now);• dentists who take time to discuss your care needs, explain the situation and possibilities for treatment and answer your questions; (I have just been concerned about a possible oral cancer which was checked by both David and Rashmi who referred me to a consultant the same day);• minimal waiting times as the staff do their best to see you at your appointment time;• excellent and friendly support staff;• a pleasant environment – all recently modernised with more rooms being built;• a practice that is open long hours to accommodate those who are working;What more can I say except that I feel fortunate that we have this facility here in Chorley.read more

I've decided to changed my smile and do braces( Im 39 year old now).Which is happened and I've been told I may need to remove a teeths maybe in a few months time. So I've been told I need to remove just one but I was so nervous for 3 weeks before my app and... my visit been booked for the 6th of January.It is pain free dentistry that's what they say ? And it is 100%true 😃 I have a chat with David before the procedures he asked me what I'm afraid etc and he told me to relax. He use a numb gel so didn't feel any discomfort of the injections and he removed my tooth within a second don't even hear a crack sound. I cannot praise this dentist practice enough. I have in the past had bad experiences from dentists and this has made me very apprehensive, to say the least, with visiting dentists. I was that worried about going to the dentist, I have suffered for years and used strong pain killers instead of... sorting the problem. Being in pain was no way to live so I decided enough was enough. My partner found Southport Road Dental for me as they advertise pain free dentistry. Given my past experiences I was very sceptical but being in pain again, I needed help. My consultation went well, everyone I met was friendly and my dentist Richa Sharma was amazing, taking time to make me feel calm and relaxed. As I had expected I required a couple of extractions and a filling which were then booked in. I must admit I didn't think I would be able to pluck up the courage to go back but I did to start my treatment. They advertise pain free dentistry and that is exactly what you get. Richa Sharma Is absolutely amazing. She has an amazing knack of being able to make you feel relaxed, explains everything and goes at a pace you are comfortable with. So far I have had one extraction and a filling and have felt nothing during the procedure. Would like to give a special thanks to Marc who performed an emergency extraction of my wisdom tooth. My wisdom tooth was giving me a lot of grief, when one night I couldn't put up with it any longer. Review for Southport Road Dental Practice - Pain free Dentistry.Conscious Sedation.Rashmi and David are the most empathic and patient centred Dentists I have ever experienced…When Rashmi offered conscious sedation as a possible solution to my inability to access root canal treatment, I was... resistant to say the least!However, Rashmi allayed every fear I had and explained the safety aspects/risks/benefits of conscious sedation for patients like myself, who could otherwise face losing their teeth.I have had 3 conscious sedations for root canal treatments in the last few months. I wish I had accessed it earlier by trusting Rashmi’s Experience, professionalism, patience and genuine care…Following the sedations I had no recollections of the treatment which is a Huge benefit to anxious patients like myself. I would give more than 5 stars if I could!As someone with a severe dental phobia (due to a very negative childhood experience) which meant I hadn’t visited a dentist for a number of years, it took a lot for me to even take the first step and contact Southport Road. But I am SO glad I did! From... the very first response from Rashmi, I felt like she understood my needs and she couldn’t do enough to make me feel relaxed and comfortable with attending. This is a place that genuinely cares about patients.All of the staff that I met were lovely and friendly. When they say that they treat everyone like they’re part of their family, it really is true! Rashmi is literally one of the nicest people I’ve ever met and Lindsey, the dental nurse, actually gave up her lunch break so they could fit me in for an emergency appointment! I decided to try this dentist on the recommendation from my partner who cannot praise them enough.After an appointment with David and hearing that I needed treatment lasting approx 2 hours, the thought of being in the chair for this length of time absolutely terrified me. After discussing my... options I decided to have the treatment done under sedation.I had a meeting beforehand with Rashmi who explained the whole process in detail and assured me I wouldn’t feel a thing. Although still very nervous on the day, the 2 nurses, and Rashmi were wonderful in keeping me calm and feeling relaxed. I first started coming to Southport Road just over a year ago. After a really helpful consultation I would go on to meet David and discuss the correct treatment suited to me. We decided that clear invisible braces on the top and bottom would be the best choice. After a year of treatment I can... safely say David and his team have been amazing. David is a real professional, up for a laugh and did a great job putting me at ease, which is pretty tough since I'm unfoundedly nervous at the dentist.
